Allstar really focuses on providing a great service as a fuel card and fleet expense management system. Some other cards on the market allow you to take part in their rewards scheme, such as the BPme program, or collect Tesco Clubcard or Nectar points. Allstar is pretty limited here with what it offers outside of the realm of vehicle expenses.

Allstar One’s expansive network includes plenty of stations to fit similarly expansive fleets. Their 7,700-strong network is unrivalled throughout the UK and covers motorway locations too, so it’s ideal for longer journeying drivers.

The clue is in the name, Allstar One Electric is perfect for electric fleets. While you can use it at 10,300 charging points throughout the UK to keep your EVs fully loaded, you can also use it to purchase fuel too. This makes it a great choice for those in the process of electrification and those with hybrid fleets as much as those who have made the full transition to electric.

How Do Allstar’s Fuel Cards Compare to Its Competitors?

Since Allstar hasn’t shared its pricing range online, we can’t say for sure where it ranks among its competitors or how good it is in terms of value for money. We can tell you, though, that The Right Fuel Card Company’s BP List card, is the cheapest in our comparison at just £1 per month. The priciest of the cards is WEX’s Esso Card at £3 per month.

All of the cards work in similar ways about savings, by setting fixed weekly fuel tariffs. Allstar has a little more range in terms of how it reduces your overall fuel expenditure. Depending on your personal business needs and eligibility, Allstar will either provide you with a fixed weekly fuel tariff, a set discount on each purchase or it’ll allow you to just pay the pump rate.

Allstar vs Competitors: Station Coverage

Despite being in the dark about how much Allstar will set you back, we can tell you that it blows all competition out of the water when it comes to station coverage. With a network that covers 90% of the country, Allstar has the most extensive UK network on the market. Firstly, this is important as you’ll lose less time to finding a station that accepts your fuel card. Secondly, it means you’ll be able to benefit from discounts on fuel at more stations, meaning your overall saving could be higher than with other cards.

To break it down, Allstar One is accepted at 7,700+ stations, which is more than the Esso Card (3,600), BP List (3,400+) and The Fuel Store Card (3,500). There is one exception here. If your fleet is based in Ireland exclusively, you’ll be better off with a card issued by Diesel Card Ireland, such as the DCI One, since its coverage in Ireland is unparalleled. DCI One has 100% coverage throughout Ireland with 1,750, compared with Allstar One’s 331 stations in Northern Ireland only.

What Do Allstar’s Customers Say?

On Trustpilot, Allstar has a rather impressive 4.6/5 star rating. Despite having 29% one-star reviews, its 63% five-star reviews seem to be more recent. Therefore they make up a stronger representation of the overall rating.

As far as the positive reviews, the customer service is lauded, with many customers celebrating their personal account managers who were very responsive and helped them along throughout their membership with Allstar. Customers also wrote that their account managers were easy to get hold of. Due to the vast majority of reviews shouting out individual account managers, we may assume that customers are personally requested by agents to give positive reviews. Not that this means the reviews are untrue, but they may be slightly biased.

The negative reviews cite poor customer service, and a lack of ownership around problem-solving, contradicting some of the more positive accounts. Other customers wrote that the vagueness around fees was frustrating. One wrote that they were slapped with a £95 fine for a failed direct debit transfer. Others wrote of hefty security deposits, as well as miscellaneous other fees that seemed to pop up on their account out of the blue.
